Why can't I use the 'Prefixes' & 'Exceptions' buttons?

Unfortunately, this is one of the functions that is not available on WinPure ListCleaner Lite. You will need to download WinPure ListCleaner Pro in order to try out this feature.

What is the difference between prefixes and exceptions?

Prefixes are words that have two parts, while leaving the first part intact, capitalising the first letter of the second half.
For example if you have Mc, Mac and O' listed in your prefixes list then proper case conversion will behave as below:

john mcnamara will be John McNamara
NORMAN O'HARA will be Norman O'Hara
a.b. macwilliams will be A.B. MacWilliams

Exceptions is basically a list that will exclude from the proper case conversion certain values.
These values could be always capital values like "UN", "IBM", "UNESCO" or special values like "dB", "One2One", etc.

The values included in the exceptions list will always be converted to the form they are listed in the exceptions list.
So for example if dB and NASA are included in the exceptions list

nasa will be NASA
Nasa will be NASA
DB will be dB
db will be dB, while all other entries are converted to "proper case".

How can I build my own list of prefixes and exceptions?

Simply click either the 'prefixes' or 'exceptions' button, and add the values that you require. These values will be stored for when you use WinPure ListCleaner again.

Can I use wildcards on the filter, so I can just change to Proper Case specific values (eg. Change to Proper Case all the values that start with '1' ?

Yes, WinPure ListCleaner is equipped with very powerful and flexible filtering and wildcards.

To change all Proper Case the values that start with '1', simple place '1*' in the filter box, then click 'Change Case'.

When I click 'Special', there are more options on the filter, what are these for?

These are all different types of filtering functions. Alpha, numeric and punctuation within values, can all be filtered by selecting the desired options.

Is it possible to change more than one field at the same time?

No, you can only convert one column at a time.

Can I sort the values into alphabetical order?

Yes, simply click the column name at the top of the list, and WinPure ListCleaner will automatically sort into ascending order. By clicking again, it will then sort into descending order. You can also sort the counts by doing the same procedure.

How do I filter each individual value on the list?

Click on the value, then click right-mouse button, this will then filter the value on Data Table.
